Burnet softball ends district first round with lopsided win against Marble Falls
The Burnet High School softball team defeated Marble Falls 14-0 March 31 in a contest that ended after five innings.
That means the Lady Dawgs (18-9, 5-0) completed the first round of District 24-4A play undefeated and in first place.
“Proud of the girls for coming out and taking care of business,” Burnet head coach Hailey Wooten said. “They are ready to get after it in the second round.”
That means a road trip to Georgetown Gateway at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 4.
Kyleigh Mott was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts.
Camrynn Guthrie had 2 RBIs, while Elyse De Arcos and Lexi Leatherwood each had 1. McCurry had 3 hits, while Journey Denton and Laetherwood each had 2.
The Burnet junior varsity has an overall record of 9-3 and a district record of 3-0.
The Lady Mustangs are at Jarrell Tuesday, April 4, and at Lampasas Thursday, April 6. Both games start at 6 p.m.
Burnet ends its week of play by traveling to Lago Vista for a 7 p.m. contest Thursday, April 6.
